About the BCI National Moot Court Competition 2023

Every year, the Bar Council of India Trust-Pearl First organises the National Moot Court Competition to demonstrate the legal insights and astute advocacy skills of law professionals. This year the organisation hosted the National Moot Competition for the first time in the Rajasthan State in association with the NIMS School of Law, Rajasthan, Jaipur. 

It was a three-day event conducted from 19th to 21st August, 2023 in which more than fifty teams of different universities participated. This competition served as a golden chance for the law aspirants as it provided them a great opportunity to showcase their legal knowledge on the platform at the National Level.

The organising university extended invitations to numerous distinguished individuals, including:

• Honourable Mr. Justice Surya Kant, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. He holds the esteemed position of Judge in the Supreme Court of India.
• Honourable Sh. Arjun Ram Meghwal, who attended as the Special Guest. He serves as the Minister of Law and Justice in India.

In addition to these prominent guests, the event was attended by several other highly regarded legal professionals of national repute. The competition was presided over by Sh. Manan Kumar Mishra, a distinguished Advocate, and Chairman of the Bar Council of India.

Significance of  the Competition in Legal Education Community : 

This Moot Court Competition in India plays a pivotal role in the legal education community for several reasons:

1. It offers law students a platform to hone their advocacy, research and presentation skills and enables them to gain practical experience in legal argumentation and the application of laws, which are considered as vital for their future careers. 
2. The competition allows students to elaborate their networking by meeting with high-level and experienced lawyers and judges across the nation.

4. Moreover, winning or even participating in a national-level moot court competition specially organised by the Bar Council of India enhances a student’s academic as well as professional profile. 

Additionally, the students also learn about legal ethics, professional conduct and the importance of upholding the rule of law.

Victory Announcement & Achievements of the SU’s Law Students in the Competition 

In the competition witnessing the participation from more than 50 teams, it was the remarkable performance of Starex University, Gurugram, that earned them the prestigious Winner's title. Not to be overshadowed, Quantum University, Roorkee, claimed the well-deserved Runner-Up position. Achievements of Our law students:

Worth mentioning that three of our students Bhavya, Rohit and Sanika represtend Starex School of Law very well on such a big platform and showcased their excellent advocacy and other skills that let them bag the victory over others. Following are the winners from Starex University’s School of Law: 

1. Bhavya Kunra was chosen as the best speaker and was also announced as the Best Student Advocate (Female) in the final round. This indicates that Bhavya demonstrated exceptional oratory and her outstanding performance as a female advocate in the competition. 

2. Meanwhile, Rohit Kumar Yadav was declared as the Best Student Advocate (Male) in the final round. This signifies that he demonstrated exemplary legal advocacy skills among all male participants.
