Botany: A fulfilling and rewarding career path that contributes towards a sustainable future

About

A botanist is a scientist who specializes in the study of plants. They study all aspects of plant life from the tiniest algae to the tallest trees as well as work to understand the fundamental processes of plant growth, development and reproduction.

Botanists may work in a variety of settings including academic institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, botanical gardens and private industry. They may conduct research on plant genetics, ecology and evolution or work to develop new plant-based products or technologies. Botanists often use a variety of tools and techniques to study plants including microscopy, DNA sequencing, field surveys and experiments in controlled environments such as growth chambers and greenhouses. They may also work with other scientists such as ecologists, agronomists as well as horticulturists, to better understand how plants interact with their environments and how they can be used to benefit human society.
