A baker is a culinary professional who specializes in making baked goods such as bread, cakes, pastries and pies. Baking is both an art and a science. Moreover, a baker must have a deep understanding of ingredients, techniques as well as equipment to create high-quality baked goods.

Bakers typically work in bakeries, cafes, restaurants, hotels and grocery stores. They may work alone or as part of a team and often work early morning shifts to ensure that fresh baked goods are available to customers. Bakers must be able to work quickly as well as efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality as well as cleanliness.

A baker's responsibilities may include mixing and preparing dough, shaping and baking bread, decorating cakes and pastries, monitoring oven temperatures and managing baking times and ensuring that all baked goods meet quality standards. Furthermore, bakers must also have knowledge of health and safety regulations and food handling practices to ensure that their products are safe for consumption.

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or Culinary arts is well-suited for students.
  • Candidates can choose a diploma or a certificate course in culinary arts.
  • Seekers can apply for an entry-level job after the completion of their bachelor’s degree, certificate course or diploma.

For Master’s

  • A Master's degree in Hospitality Management or Culinary arts is a great option to gain expertise for students.
  • After master’s scholars need to get at least 6 months of experience.
