A chemical pathologist is a medical doctor who specialises in diagnosing and managing disorders related to biochemical processes in the body. They use a variety of laboratory tests and techniques to analyse biological samples such as blood, urine and tissues to determine the presence as well as severity of diseases. Chemical pathologists work closely with other healthcare professionals such as primary care physicians, specialists and laboratory technicians in order to interpret laboratory results and develop treatment plans.

Some of the common disorders that chemical pathologists diagnose and manage include diabetes, lipid disorders, renal diseases, liver diseases and metabolic disorders. They may also be involved in cancer diagnosis and treatments as well as monitoring patients receiving chemotherapy.

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • Students must have completed their 10+2 with at least 50% marks in the Science stream.
  • Aspirants can select a bachelor’s degree in chemical pathology or related field.
  • To get an admission in the UG Program, scholars need to pass entrance exams like NEET UG, CUET, JIPMER EE or PGIMER EE. 

For Master’s

  • Undergraduates can go further for a Master’s degree in chemical pathology or related fields.
  • Some universities may require entrance exams for PG Program like NEET PG, JIPMER PG or AIIMS PG EE.
