Join the ranks of geochemists: a rewarding career that contributes to a better world

About

Geochemistry is the study of the chemical composition, structure and processes of the Earth and other planets. A geochemist is a scientist who specializes in the study of the chemical properties of rocks, minerals, soils, water and various other materials found on the Earth's surface and in its interior.

Geochemists may work in a variety of settings including academic institutions, government agencies and private companies. Their work is important for understanding the Earth's history, the processes that shape its surface and interior as well as the environmental impacts of human activities.

Their work involves collecting and analyzing samples of rocks, minerals, water and other materials as well as using a variety of analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, to study their chemical properties. They may also use mathematical models to simulate and predict the behavior of these materials under numerous conditions.
