Medical laboratory technologists, also known as medical laboratory scientists or clinical laboratory technologists are highly trained professionals who play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment as well as prevention of diseases. They perform complex laboratory tests on blood, urine and other bodily fluids as well as tissues to help physicians and other healthcare professionals to make accurate diagnoses along with developing treatment plans.

Medical laboratory technologists use a variety of advanced laboratory instruments and techniques to analyse samples and generate test results. They must be highly skilled in handling and analysing laboratory specimens, ensuring accuracy, reliability of test results as well as maintaining strict quality control standards.

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • Candidates must pass their 10+2 class with at least 60% marks in science stream from any recognised board.
  • A bachelor’s degree in the medical field is a well-suited option for students.

For Master’s

  • To get admission in (MBBS, MS, MD or M.Sc) undergraduates need to pass an entrance exam like NEET-UG, NEET-PG or BHU-PMT. 
  • Scholars can go for further studies like Ph.D or M.Phil.
  • A year of internship program is compulsory.
