Prosthetist

Transforming Lives Through Precision and Compassion in Mobility Solutions

About

A prosthetist is a highly skilled healthcare professional specialising in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. Prosthetics involve the design, fabrication and fitting of artificial limbs, while orthotics involve the creation of devices such as braces and supports to enhance or support existing limbs or body parts. The primary goal of a prosthetist is to help individuals who have experienced limb loss or orthopaedic impairments regain optimal function and mobility.

The process typically begins with a comprehensive assessment of the patient's physical condition, including the level and type of amputation, the condition of the residual limb, and the individual's overall health. These experts work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as surgeons, physical therapists and occupational therapists, to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach to patient care.

Using advanced technologies and materials, prosthetists design and fabricate custom prosthetic limbs that are tailored to the specific needs and lifestyle of each individual. They consider factors such as the patient's activity level, occupation and personal preferences to create a prosthetic device that maximises comfort, function and aesthetics.
