A zoologist is a scientist who studies animals and their behavior, physiology, genetics, ecology and evolution. Zoologists may specialize in studying specific types of animals such as mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, insects or they may focus on particular aspects of animal biology such as animal behavior, animal physiology or animal ecology.

Zoologists may conduct research in laboratories, fields, zoos or any other animal facilities. They may study animal populations and their habitats, examine the genetic makeup of different animal species or observe animal behavior and communication patterns. Zoologists may work in a variety of settings including academic research institutions, government agencies, environmental consulting firms, zoos, aquariums as well as nonprofit organizations. They may also work in industries such as agriculture, biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • To get admission in top-ranked colleges/universities, a national level entrance exam is conducted like JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, NEET or any other required exam. 
  • Aspirants need to have a bachelor’s degree in science with at least 60% marks from any recognised institute. 

 

For Master’s

  • A master’s degree in science is a well-suited option for undergraduates. 
  • Students need to obtain at least 65% marks in their PG Program. 
  • Seekers can go further for Ph.D Program.
