A mixologist is a professional who specializes in creating cocktails and mixed drinks. They are typically employed in bars, restaurants and hotels, they may work as part of a team or as an independent consultant. Mixologists are knowledgeable about different types of spirits, mixers, garnishes and they use this knowledge to create unique as well as flavorful cocktails.

A mixologist's job typically involves creating drinks menu, designing signature cocktails and ensuring that all the drinks are prepared to the highest standards. They may also be responsible for training other bartenders and staff members on how to mix drinks properly. Many mixologists have undergone formal training in mixology and some have even earned certifications in the field. However, it is also possible for individuals to gain experience and knowledge through on-the-job training or personal interest in mixology.

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • Most colleges and universities in India require candidates to have completed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% from a recognized board.
  • Candidates may also need to clear an entrance exam conducted by the college/university or a national-level exam such as the NCHMCT JEE (National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination).

For Work Experience

  • Candidates should have completed a bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum aggregate score of 50% from a recognized university.
  • Aspirants may also need to clear an entrance exam such as CAT, MAT or XAT depending on the college or university's admission requirements.
