JEE (Main), often referred as Joint Entrance Examination Main is an engineering based entrance examination which was previously conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) and now by JEE Apex Board (JAB) at national level. As JEE Main comprises two papers, paper 1 allows you to take admission into programs like B.E/B.Tech. whereas, paper 2 is for admission into B. Arch and B. Planning.
JEE (Main) directs you at National Institute of Technology, abbreviated as NITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technology abbreviated as IIITs and variant technical institutes called CFTIs of India. JEE Main entrance exam lists the eligibility criteria for you so that you can appear in a number of exams as per your eligibility and appear in the engineering courses as per caliber. The JEE Main 2024 eligibility criteria is as given below:
Age Limit: There is no age limit criteria to appear in the exam but you have to fulfill the age criteria as prescribed by the Institution you are taking admission in.
If you are applying for a B.E/ B.Tech degree, you must have cleared the 5 fundamentals subjects in 12th level-Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects and Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or any other technical vocational as optional subjects.
If you are a diploma holder, you can still apply for admission but solely in IITs.
If you have passed your 12th (Intermediate) class examination or its equivalent in 2020, 2021 or appearing in 2024, you are eligible to apply.
You can appear in one or more than one session. And, the attempt limit is the same for all the categories.
In addition to the general eligibility of the JEE Main 2024, you must fulfill the state code of eligibility while registering for the exam. Read further and check if you meet the standard code:
The state code of eligibility will depend on the state you have qualified for your intermediate exam and it will not be dependent on your residence or native place.
Indian nationals who will pass 12th level from an institution situated abroad their state code of eligibility will be determined as per their mentioned permanent address of India given in the passport.
Special Note: You are always advised to check out your matching criteria so that no chance is missed. Also, keep in mind that just appearing for JEE Main will not make you eligible for final admission.

Steps for JEE Main 2024 Registration
As soon as JAB will declare the application start date for JEE Main 2024, you will need to register for the exam carefully. Follow the below-mentioned steps
Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Main 2024 i.e. https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/.
Step 2: Click on ‘New registration’.
Step 3: Give your personal & contact details in the registration form. After successful form submission, you then need to complete the application form,filling all the required details.
Step 4: Upload your recent passport-sized photograph, signature and any other document required.
Step 5: Click on Save and then Submit.
Step 6: Pay the application fee through Debit card/Credit card/Net Banking/UPI/PayTM.
