The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially declared the result of the Combined State Engineering Services (CES) Preliminary Examination 2024. The examination was conducted on April 20, 2025, for recruitment under Advertisement No. A-9/E-1/2024, which was released on December 17, 2024. The announcement has brought both excitement and a sense of direction for thousands of engineering aspirants across the state.

This highly competitive examination is conducted by UPPSC to recruit engineers in various government departments across Uttar Pradesh. It forms an important part of the state's engineering recruitment process.

Number of Applicants and Selected Candidates

According to the official data provided by the Commission, a total of 78,798 candidates had applied for the CES Prelims exam. Out of these, 31,639 candidates actually appeared for the examination. After carefully evaluating the performance of the candidates, the Commission has shortlisted 7,358 candidates to appear in the main examination, which is the next stage of the recruitment process.

The recruitment is being held to fill 609 engineering posts under both General Recruitment and Special Recruitment categories. The number of qualified candidates is nearly 12 times the number of available posts, indicating the highly competitive nature of the exam.

What’s Next: Main Examination

The UPPSC has announced that the schedule for the CES Main Examination will be released separately in due course. Provisional Result: Subject to Court Decision

In an important update, the Commission has clarified that this preliminary result is provisional and is subject to the final decision of a case pending in the Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad. The matter relates to Special Appeal (D) No. 475 of 2019, filed by the Uttar Pradesh State Government. The case concerns reservation rules and the eligibility of certain candidates, particularly female candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh.

As per the Commission’s statement, the result for such female candidates is also conditional, depending on the outcome of the court’s verdict. This means that their final selection may change based on the High Court’s ruling.

Marks and Cut-Offs: To Be Announced After Final Result

The UPPSC has also informed that the individual marks obtained by the candidates and the category-wise cutoff scores will be published only after the declaration of the final result. This is a standard practice followed by the Commission to ensure transparency and avoid confusion during the selection process.

Until the final selection list is published, candidates will not be able to access their scores or know the official cut-off marks.

RTI Queries Not Allowed Before Final Results

Another important notice issued by the Commission is that Right to Information (RTI) applications regarding marks, cutoffs, or evaluation process will not be accepted before the declaration of the final results. This step has been taken to avoid the unnecessary flow of RTI applications and to maintain the confidentiality of the examination process.

Candidates are requested to wait patiently until the recruitment process is completed and the final merit list is made public.
